The Garment District
by The Weekender Soap Co on Jun 29, 2022
Does anyone else get excited about fabric? Just me? I'm on a work trip for my 9-5, and while I should be rehearsing my talking points for the big meeting, all I can't think about is shopping my way through New York's Garment District.
Probably like many of you, I went a little stir-crazy during the "Great Quarantine." In New England, almost everything shutdown in mid-March of 2020 and I didn't get to go back to work until January of 2021. I took a virtual holiday cocktail-making class, enrolled in an online graduate class, of course I learned how to make soap, and then I learned how to sew. Yep, I watched alot of YouTube videos and Master classes. I pulled out my one-time used sewing machine from a previous failed sewing attempt years ago, purchased some fabric online, and gave it a try.
Since I was also getting into the bath & body/self care industry, I thought robes were the perfect article to make my own. Just like my soaps, I wanted the fabrics to be colorful, have pockets!!, and to remind me of my travels or a weekend getaways. Maybe, even a robe I could wear all day when I just didn't want to leave the house.
So when work asked if I would travel to New York City for a meeting, I took the opportunity to Google my way through the possibilities. Mood. B&J. Elliot Berman. Butterfly.
I have my list of stores. I have my shopping list. Ah!! I'm so excited to get expand our Summer collection and get a head start on Fall!
